Pottsville Raising Rates on JFK Pool, Trash Bills for 2025

JFK passes and trash bills likely going up in 2025.

In order to make ends meet in 2025, Pottsville is raising rates to swim at JFK Pool and the cost of trash collection in the city

Earlier this month, City Council approved a 2025 spending plan that calls for a 3-mill property tax increase.

Last week, council members heard a first reading of an ordinance to raise fees that they hope will generate more revenue to help balance their budget in the coming year.

Notable among those increases are new, higher fees to get into JFK Swimming Pool in the upcoming year. The cost of trash collection is also going up next year.

New Rates at JFK Pool in 2025

Here’s a look at the new entrance fees for JFK:

Resident Season Tickets

The new season ticket rate for students is $70, up from $60. For adults, the new season rate is $80, up from $70. Couples will have to pay $100 for a season pass. That’s up from $85. And the rate for seniors will be $55. A discount of $5 is available for any season passes purchased before May 31.

Non-resident Season Tickets

New prices for non-residents are much higher. For students, the price is $95 (up from $85). Adults will have to pay $115 ($105 in 2024). Couples are going to have to cough up $140($125 in 2024) and seniors from out-of-town will pay $80 (up from $75). Again, a $5 discount is available for passes purchased before May 31.

Family Passes

The 2025 rates for resident families up to 5 people will cost $150. That’s up from $120. And for non-resident families, the cost of a season pass is $225, up from $195. A $10 discount is available for passes purchased before May 31.

Each additional family member more than 5 will cost $30 for residents and $35 for non-residents.

Daily Rates

The City is setting new rates and a new rate structure for daily passes at JFK. In 2025, residents under 18 will have to pay $4 a day to be at the pool. Non-residents under 18 will have to pay $8.

For resident students, the cost of a daily pass is $6. And for non-residents, it’ll be the same rate.

The cost for adult residents will be $4.50 and for non-residents, it’s $12.

Trash Collection Rates in Pottsville for 2025

Pottsville residents will also have to pay a few bucks more per month to have their trash collected.

When the ordinance setting these new rates is likely passed in January, the monthtly trash bill in Pottsville will be $25, up from $21. That equates to an additional $48 per year per customer. Costs for a Toter will go up to $3.50, from $3 per month.

A second reading of the ordinance establishing these rates will likely be passed in January.
