Saint Clair Approves Tax Hike, Electric Rate Increase

Borough council members voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve its 2025 budget that includes a 1-mill tax hike.

The new millage rate will be 9 mills in 2025. A property owner will owe $9 on every $1,000 of assessed value next year.

That wasn’t the only bill going up for Saint Clair residents and property owners. Council members also voted to amend its Electric Light Ordinance to boost the rate by $0.01 per kwH.

The borough says the new electric light rate is to cover the capacity charge increase.

In other actions on Tuesday night, Saint Clair approved the hiring of three part-time police officers: Bryce Lewis, Cody Searfoss, and Ryan Smith.

Council members signed an agreement to provide Palo Alto with full-time police coverage starting in 2025. That deal still requires the approval of Palo Alto council members, who meet again on Monday, Dec. 9.
