An Ashland man is in Schuylkill County Prison after allegedly pulling an armed robbery at the Turkey Hill store in the borough Monday morning.
According to court papers, police were called to the Turkey Hill Mini Mart on W. Centre St. in Ashland just before 7:30 a.m. Monday.
Police were given information that the store had just been robbed and the suspect fled to the rear of the store and down an alley. The suspect was wearing all black clothing, a black mask, and dark sunglasses.
An interview with the store clerk revealed that the suspect was likely Teddy Fishburn Jr. The clerk said that Fishburn Jr. walked up to the counter as they were putting change into the drawer.
Fishburn Jr. allegedly said, “Give me the money,” and pulled out a black pistol from his right front pocket.
The clerk says they told him to put the gun away and that he was going to get arrested. Fishburn Jr. then allegedly put the gun away but still said, “I don’t care. Give me the money.”
At that point, Fishburn Jr. reached over the counter and put his hand in the register. The clerk tried to stop him but Fishburn Jr. was able to grab $40 in cash from the register till.
Police say they reviewed security footage from Turkey Hill and that confirmed the sequence of events described by the store clerk.
Later Monday, police were able to apprehend Fishburn Jr. He was arraigned before District Magistrate Edward Tarantelli and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison on $100,000 bail.
A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for Oct. 9 where he’ll have to answer to charges of first-degree felony robbery, third-degree felony robbery, and misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property.
