Deadline Nears to Submit Public Comment on BRADS Landfill Renewal Application

The deadline is this Friday.

Anyone from the public wishing to submit written public comments in response to the BRADS Landfill renewal application has until Friday to do so.

Written public comments can be submitted to the state’s Dept. of Environmental Protection until June 14 at 4 p.m.

BRADS Landfill wants DEP to approve a 10-year extension on its initial permit to continue accepting construction and demolition waste.

On May 29, DEP held a public hearing in St. Clair to hear public testimony on the proposed permit renewal. Everyone in attendance at that hearing appeared to be vehemently against the BRADS Landfill getting that renewal approved. (READ MORE: Public Demands DEP Deny BRADS Landfill Permit Renewal)

St. Clair residents told DEP officials that night that their quality of life has diminished due to the foul odors emanating from the landfill and because of the truck traffic to and from it.

Residents also said they believe that BRADS Landfill is accepting more than just construction and demolition waste. Some said they believe the landfill is also accepting municipal waste as well.

The most efficient way to get comments to DEP on this issue is via email to Colleen Connolly, the communications manager at DEP’s Northeast Regional Office. Connolly’s email is: coconnolly@pa.gov.

Please do not renew landfill, the air quality is very important to me being I was diagnosed with COPD in September 2023 and on oxygen 24 hrs, it’s terrible that I cannot go out on my porch and enjoy the nice weather because of the smell and air quality
