US Rep. Dan Meuser (PA-9) just announced the winners of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition.
The first-place winner will have the honor of having their artwork hang in the US Capitol for one year alongside other winners from across the country.
Second- and third-place winners will have their artwork hanging in Meuser’s district offices.
The winning piece (pictured above) is titled Operation Desert Shield and was submitted by Kaylee Meeker, of Northwest Area School District.
Schuylkill Haven Area School District’s Heidi Stone finished second for her piece titled Heart and Lily Troutman, of Tulpehocken High School placed third for her piece titled Freedom.
“Congratulations, Kaylee, on your winning entry – your attention to detail is truly remarkable,” Meuser says. “From achieving third place last year to claiming first place this year, you should feel immensely proud. I’m pleased that your artwork will be showcased in the halls of the U.S. Capitol for the next year, offering visitors, staff, and Members of Congress the opportunity to appreciate your talent.
“Competitions like this are a wonderful way to highlight the artistic talents of students across Pennsylvania’s Ninth District. I applaud the efforts of all the young artists who participated in this year’s contest, including our second and third place winners, Heidi Stone, and Lily Troutman. Everyone should be very proud of their submissions,” the Congressman adds.
