A Schuylkill County man will spend at least the next 4 years in state prison after being sentenced on child pornography charges on Friday.
According to Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry, 22-year-old Brandon Lusch, of Tamaqua, was sentenced Friday by judges in two counties, Carbon and Schuylkill, to spend the next 4-10 years in prison.
A Carbon County case against Lusch resulted in a sentence of 3-6 years. And in Schuylkill County, he was sentenced to 1-4 years in prison. The sentences are to be served consecutively.
Lusch’s prison sentence was the result of a plea agreement, according to Henry. After his prison sentence, Lusch must serve 10 years probation and then register as a sex offender for 25 years.
An investigation into Lusch revealed that he was in possession of child pornography while using Snapchat. Authorities also discovered Lusch had taken “lewd photographs” of children and had those photos in his possession.
“This defendant both possessed and manufactured child pornography, and my office was vigilant in prosecuting this heinous conduct,” Attorney General Henry said. “This case is another example of the potential dangers of social media, and predators use those platforms as means to exploit and abuse children.”
