An Orwigsburg man was struck by a bullet fragment during an incident in Berks County over the weekend.
According to information from State Police-Hamburg, this happened at Pappy T’s Pub and Lounge in Tilden Twp. after 1 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 12).
Police say they were summoned to Pappy T’s for the report of a shooting.
An investigation revealed that one patron at the bar, Thomas J. Fronina, 37, of Leesport, removed a .38 pistol from his pocket to show someone else.
One round discharged from the gun and hit the floor. The bullet hit the lower leg of a 43-year-old Leesport woman and a bullet fragment hit the Orwigsburg man, 45, in the ankle.
The Orwigsburg man suffered a reported minor injury during this incident. Meanwhile, the Leesport woman was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police say.
Fronina is facing several felony charges, including two counts of aggravated assault and another for discharging a firearm in an occupied building.
He was arraigned Sunday afternoon before District Magistrate Tonya Butler and released on $20,000 unsecured bail. Fronina is due back for a Preliminary Hearing on Nov. 20 before District Magistrate Kim Bagenstose.
