A Pottsville woman was jailed following an alleged domestic violence incident late Wednesday night in the city.
According to information released by Pottsville Bureau of Police, officers were called to a dispute on the sidewalk at the 600 block of N. Centre St. shortly after 11 p.m. on April 23. There, police encountered Korian Lugo Santiago, 34, and her 29-year-old boyfriend, who were arguing.
Santiago and her boyfriend were separated.
The boyfriend had called 9-1-1 after their heated argument became physical. They were reportedly arguing over infidelity in the relationship.
During the row, Santiago reportedly slapped her boyfriend in the head several times. One of the attacks was captured on video using the boyfriend’s phone, police say.
Santiago denied slapping her boyfriend, despite the video evidence proving otherwise, saying he made it up.
Police have charged Santiago with simple assault. She was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Stephen Bayer and was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison on 10% of $2,500 bail. Bail was posted Thursday.
