State Police are looking for a man they believe fired shots at another driver on Route 61 near Orwigsburg on Friday evening.
According to information released Friday, police say this shooting incident happened at about 6 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 61 near The Freeze in North Manheim Twp, outside Orwigsburg.
At that time, police say a driver was heading south on the highway. A confrontation between that driver and an unknown driver escalated.
During the confrontation, the unknown driver pulled a gun and fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle. At least one shot hit their vehicle.
The alleged shooter is described as a white man, possibly in his 40s and wearing a backwards hat. He was driving a light blue 4-door sedan. Police believe it could be a Ford Taurus. The vehicle has a missing hubcap on the passenger side.
After firing those shots on the highway, the alleged shooter sped off, south on Route 61, until going on the Brick Hill Rd. jug handle. The suspected shooter then escaped the scene, last being seen traveling on Brick Hill Rd. through West Brunswick Twp.
Police are asking for the public’s help in possibly identifying the alleged shooter in this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police in Schuylkill Haven at 570-754-4600.
