A judge in Luzerne County has ordered polling locations to stay open until 10 p.m. on Tuesday because of a paper ballot shortage.
WNEP is reporting that an election official had to drive to Wilkes-Barre to “get more paper” so voters could cast their picks in the 2022 midterm elections.
Luzerne County posted an alert to its website notifying voters. It says the extension does not affect mail-in ballots or drop-box locations.
The extended voting hours in Luzerne County will affect two races for some Schuylkill County voters.
The new 116th Pennsylvania House district is made up, in part, from Schuylkill and Luzerne counties.
In that race, Democrat Yesenia Rodriguez is facing Republican Dane Watro, of Schuylkill County.
And Luzerne County is also part of the 9th Congressional District in Pennsylvania, which includes Schuylkill County.
