Pennsylvania State Police are warning the public not to approach any of the missing monkeys should they spot them.
They say “keep your distance and call 9-1-1 immediately.”
The monkey truck was transporting about 100 of the animals to a lab somewhere in Pennsylvania, according to a report from WNEP-TV.
According to that station’s Nikki Krize, the monkeys were on their way to a lab. The truck carrying them crashed and the monkeys apparently ran off into the woods. Just before 8 p.m. Friday, Krize shared this photo she got from investigators at the scene of the crash and monkey search site:
Certainly not something you see in Danville, PA everyday! Investigators shared this picture. They are trying to get this little guy down from the tree @WNEP pic.twitter.com/IyNQuwGs7b

Later on Friday, Krize reported that authorities from the Pennsylvania State Police and Game Commission had apparently cornered one monkey in a tree and after a short while, she heard several shots ring out.
It’s unknown if those shots hit the monkey the search team was able to find and there have been no updates on the other 3 monkeys that are on the lam. Authorities haven’t revealed where they believe the monkeys could have gone.
