A Reading woman is facing felony charges following a police chase in New Philadelphia earlier this month.
According to information from State Police in Frackville, they arrested Darion Turner, 26, of Reading, on the evening of Nov. 15.
Turner allegedly rear-ended a vehicle driven by Elmer Shollenberger, 68, of Port Carbon, and then fled the scene. After the crash, Turner didn’t stick around at the scene and tried getting away.
A short time later, police say, Turner was found in her vehicle and police attempted to make a stop. But Turner wasn’t about to give up right away and tried to elude police. Police gave pursuit but a short time later, Turner lost control of her vehicle and crashed.
Police say Turner was drunk when they finally took her in custody. They also say Turner was in possession of a loaded gun and she didn’t have a permit for it. The gun, police learned, was reported stolen.
According to court documents, Turner is facing a litany of charges, including a felony for receiving stolen property. She’s also facing an illegal gun possession charge, one for fleeing police, a DUI, and charges related to the vehicle crash.
