State Police say there was never a threat of a school shooting at the Schuylkill Vocational Technical School in Mar Lin.
Police say they responded to the school on Wednesday morning after rumors surfaced of a possible school shooting. An investigation into the rumor found no such threat existed and police believe the school and the community is not at risk of such an incident.
Administration at the vo-tech school informed staff, students, and parents about the potential threat.
However, not all has been quiet at the Mar Lin campus.
Back on Oct. 26, State Police in Schuylkill Haven say they responded to a report of a fight at the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29.
Police say the fight erupted during a lunch period between 2 students, a 16-year-old girl from Pine Grove and a 16-year-old boy from Pottsville.
During the brouhaha, one of the students tried to punch a staff member twice but missed each time, police say. Staff attempted to physically restrain the student but during that scuffle, the student kicked a staff member.
That incident provoked the other student involved to cause a disturbance by kicking an entry door to the school, shattering its glass.
