A Pottsville man died early Sunday morning in a crash involving a city police vehicle.
According to limited information available from State Police in Schuylkill Haven, Joseph A. Potter, 31, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital – East (Pottsville) following the crash.
Police say the crash happened at about 12:46 a.m. along Laurel Boulevard, near Third St.
Pottsville PD was traveling east on Laurel Blvd. at that time. That’s when Potter, on a Haro bicycle, came through the intersection with Laurel at N. Third St. That’s when Potter’s bicycle was met by the front of the Pottsville Police cruiser.
Potter was taken to the hospital by ambulance and later died.
We’ll have more information on this if/when it becomes available.

This is remorseful to read. It’s horrible to lose a life but when the loss is from a vehicle hitting a pedestrian the driver of the vehicle is usually destroyed emotionally forever as well. I don’t imagine hitting a person while driving is something a person is able to forget or get past them. Thoughts to everyone involved.
