National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Schuylkill County for an imminent snow storm later this week.
The Winter Storm Watch extends from Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. until Thursday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. It covers the following counties in Pennsylvania (as of Monday, 5 a.m.):
- Schuylkill
- Perry
- Juniata
- Mifflin
- Huntingdon
NWS in State College believes heavy snow during that time will make travel very difficult or impossible. The snowstorm will likely have an effect on the Wednesday evening commute and any travel at night.
Right now, the forecast is for snow falling in excess of 12 inches in some areas in the Watch area.
