A Mahanoy City man is behind bars at Schuylkill County prison Sunday after getting busted crawling out of a hole in a house.
According to Mahanoy City Police Dept., Edwin Astor was taken into custody around 8 a.m. Sunday. And police say they have neighbors to thank for his arrest.
Mahanoy City Man Arrested Sneaking Out of Hole in House
Astor got spotted crawling out of a hole in a house in the borough Sunday morning. Police say people nearby spotted this diminutive guy crawling from the hole and stopped him. Those vigilantes were able to detail Astor until police arrived on the scene.
Astor, 54, was taken to prison and police say he’ll be charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and simple assault. No charges were filed against Astor in a District Court as of 8 p.m. Sunday.
This is not Astor’s first scrape with law enforcement. And it’s not the first time he’s faced similar charges, according to court records.
Back in June 2018, charges of breaking into a structure were withdrawn against Astor. But prosecutors were able to get charges of possessing an instrument of crime and prowling to stick in that incident nearly 2 years ago.
Then, last year, back in March, Astor pleaded guilty to trespassing charges connected to a February arrest.
