Shenandoah Valley School District has named Ed Moran as its new Head Football Coach.
Moran replaces a coal region football coaching legend, Kevin Keating.
Keating stepped aside following the Blue Devils’ 0-10 2019 season, which saw the team make the District XI playoffs. But due to injuries, Shenandoah Valley forfeit the playoff game against Williams Valley.
Shenandoah Valley Introduces Ed Moran as New Head Football Coach
In a statement released on Twitter, Moran says, “I am honored to be named the Head Football Coach for the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils and follow in the footsteps of Pennsylvania football coaching legend Kevin Keating.
As noted above, the Blue Devils football program has fallen on hard times lately. Declining enrollment and participation in football makes it difficult to build a program and put competitive teams on the field on a weekly basis.
It wasn’t always this way.
And just because things have been a certain way doesn’t mean they have to continue. It seems Moran is ready to work at rebuilding the Blue Devils football program.
“The Shenandoah Valley football program is steeped in tradition and pride and I am excited to get to work with the student-athletes of Shenandoah Valley and return the Blue Devil program to prominence,” Moran says. “As a player, I knew that whenever you played Shenandoah, you were in for a tough fight to the end. I believe that the Shenandoah toughness is still there.”
3 of the 13 football programs in Schuylkill County are now helmed by Minersville grads.
Good luck Ed! https://t.co/Knd3cF5jjM
