We started the week with a championship game on Memorial Day. After that, two days of rain outs and it may be hard to keep track of where we stand with the PIAA District 11 baseball championships.
Two District 11 baseball championships have already been awarded, in classes 1A and 4A. And both times local teams came out on top.
On Thursday, three more local teams look to take two of the remaining championships to be claimed.
We have no local teams in classes 3A or 6A.
But Blue Mountain (5A), Schuylkill Haven, and Williams Valley (2A) all take the field at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown looking for District 11 gold.
So, let’s recap where each of the six classes stand going into action on Thursday — at least that’s the plan:
Class 1A
Tri Valley Defeats Nativity for Class 1A Crown
It’s been nearly a week since the Bulldogs beat the Hilltoppers for the District 11 Class 1A championship. It happened way back on May 24.
Tri Valley Tops Nativity for District 11 Class 1A Baseball Championship
Class 2A
#1 Schuylkill Haven vs. #3 Williams Valley, Thursday 11:30 a.m.
The chances of getting the District 11 Class 2A championship in before any rain Thursday are good. The top-seeded Hurricanes and third-ranked Vikings take the field at Coca Cola Park in Allentown at 11:30 a.m.
Class 4A
North Schuylkill Defeats NW Lehigh for 4A Title
The Spartans used a 7th-inning rally to overcome a one-run deficit on Monday to win the Class 4A championship.
North Schuylkill Takes District 11 4A Baseball Title
Class 5A
#1 Blue Mountain vs. #2 Whitehall, Thursday 2 p.m.
They may be able to get this one in before the rain on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles look to defend their District 11 5A crown at 2 p.m. on Thursday in a game against Whitehall.
This game is also set for Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, home of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.
