Locust Lake Offers Loaner Activity Backpacks for Younger Campers

Locust Lake State Park launched a new program this year aimed at younger campers.

It’s part of the state’s DiscoverE program. This program offers activities for campers from ages 4-17.

Youth campers reach out to the park’s contact station when they visit Locust Lake and pick up one of these DiscoverE backpacks. Campers keep the backpacks for up to 2 days and complete different activities within the confines of the Locust Lake park.

By completing these activities, young campers earn badges that are recognized at other Pennsylvania state parks.

Pennsylvania State Parks DiscoverE Backpack Program

This is Locust Lake’s first year in the DiscoverE program. And the backpack program is just one of many activities available.

Check out the schedule of other DiscoverE programs at state parks in the area and a little further away. Click HERE For the full schedule.

You can download or view the state’s brochure produced by the state on the DiscoverE program HERE.

And, you can find out more about the program here on the stat’s DCNR website.
