America’s Oldest is also America’s best.
The Brewers Association just released its list of Top Craft Brewing Companies for 2018 and D.G. Yuengling & Sons Inc. topped the list. You probably know the company better as Yuengling Brewery.
TBA’s list is based purely on beer sales volume.
Yuengling came in at #1 on the list. Boston Beer Co., makers of Sam Adams beers, finished second. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. finished third.
Here’s a look at the top 50 craft brewers, according to The Brewers Association.
“Although the market has grown more competitive, particularly for regional craft breweries with the widest distribution, these 50 small and independent brewing companies continue to lead the craft brewing market in sales through strong brands, quality, and innovation,” Bart Watson, chief economist at the Brewers Association, says.
Yuengling Top Craft Brewer in 2018; Not Shabby Among the Big Players, Either
The Pottsville-based brewery finished last year tops among the craft brewers in the U.S. Overall, Yuengling was right up there with the biggest brewers in the U.S. in overall sales.
The company finished 6th last year in sales among all breweries, not just crafts.
Anheuser-Busch was first, followed by MillerCoors, Constellation, Heineken, and Pabst Brewing Co.
Yuengling is celebrating its 190th year in business this year. It bills itself as America’ Oldest Brewery and no one seems ready to contest that claim. Just recently, the brewer approved designs for a new retro-inspired 80s-style can design for its Premium and Premium Light beers.
