Schuylkill County Man Accused of Possessing, Disseminating Illicit Files Involving Minors

Dubose held on $75K bail

A Schuylkill County man is accused of possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) after police say a forensic search of his cell phone uncovered multiple illicit videos involving minors.

Police say Leonard Dubose, 39, of Schuylkill Haven, admitted to receiving links containing child pornography on a messaging app. An extraction of his phone revealed multiple files depicting children engaged in explicit acts with adults, police say.

The investigation began when police received five referrals from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding illicit files shared online between July and September 2024. Police say the files included videos and images of minors, ranging in age from 8 to 16, being subjected to or performing explicit acts with adults and other minors.

Police say they traced the IP addresses and email accounts used to share the files through T-Mobile, Comcast, and Google. The data directed police to a Dock St. residence, which had an active Comcast internet account.

Police executed a search warrant at the home last Thursday morning. Shortly after, police made contact with Dubose at his place of employment.

During the interview, Dubose confirmed he had lived at the Dock St. home for two years and acknowledged operating specific email accounts linked to the Kik messaging app, police say.

Dubose told police that while using the app, he received links containing child pornography, which he believed automatically saved to his cell phone’s camera roll. Police say Dubose denied that anyone else used his electronic devices.

A subsequent forensic data extraction of Dubose’s Samsung cell phone uncovered the email addresses in question along with multiple files of child sexual abuse material, police say.

Dubose was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Christian Lengel and charged with nine felony counts of crimes related to possessing or disseminating CSAM. Lengel set bail at $75,000 cash and remanded Dubose to Schuylkill County Prison. A preliminary hearing before Senior Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek in Orwigsburg is scheduled for March 31.
