A Schuylkill County man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly damaged a woman’s Maserati with a baseball bat last year.
State Police say they were dispatched to a home on Red Dale Rd. in West Brunswick Township at shortly before 6 p.m. on Oct. 15 for a report of a man nearly being run over by a vehicle.
At the scene, police say they spoke with Brad Gavalis, 22, of Schuylkill Haven, who claimed that 60-year-old Michele Bosack was on the property and wouldn’t leave.
A verbal altercation ensued between Gavalis and Bosack.
During that altercation, Gavalis allegedly used a brown baseball bat and damaged Bosack’s 2017 Maserati, damaging the passenger-side mirror and denting the hood on the passenger side. Gavalis allegedly admitted to hitting the sports car with the bat, police say.
About a half-hour later, police caught up with Bosack at her home, also on Red Dale Rd. Police say they noticed signs of damage on her Maserati consistent with it being struck by a baseball bat.
The estimated damage to the Maserati is just less than $5,200. Gavalis has been charged with a third-degree felony for criminal mischief. He was arraigned before Senior Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek on Tuesday.
Bail was set at $100 unsecured and Gavalis has been ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 24.
Previously, Bosack was charged in relation to this same incident. During the investigation, she allegedly told police, “Yeah, you’re right. I tried to (bleeping) run him over.”
Bosack has been charged with attempted aggravated assault, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment, attempted simple assault, and defiant trespass, along with a summary charge of criminal mischief.
A preliminary hearing in that case has been continued several times and is currently scheduled for April 7.
