Authorities have charged a Schuylkill County man with possession with intent to deliver controlled substances more than three years after seizing the narcotics from his home.
According to court records, State Police and the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force showed up at the front door of William “Monk” Bracey, 66, in the 1200 block of Middle St. in Ashland on the afternoon of Oct. 18, 2022. They were there to execute a search and seizure warrant.
After knocking on the front door, authorities say Bracey eventually answered the door and said, “Come in.”
Bracey reportedly told police that he was a narcotics user and that all his drugs were located in one area of his home.
During their search, authorities say they seized, among other items, 12 plastic baggies containing a total of 97.7 grams of methamphetamine, one plastic baggie containing 0.45 grams of fentanyl, two plastic baggies containing 1.38 grams of cocaine, and one plastic baggie with a little more than 3 grams of weed.
While conceding that the 3 grams of weed were likely for personal use, authorities suspect that Bracey was selling the other drugs. A digital scale and numerous empty plastic baggies were found in Bracey’s home, police say.
Bracey was arraigned on Jan. 30 on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver as well as misdemeanor counts of possessing a controlled substance, use of drug paraphernalia, and possessing a small amount of marijuana for personal use.
Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli set bail at $75,000 unsecured and ordered Bracey to appear for a preliminary hearing in his court on March 11.
