Schuylkill County Man, 18, Allegedly Threatened to Shoot Up Homes, Pistol Whip a Mother Over Broken Window Payment

“Chucky” aka Yurem Mejia faces terroristic threats charges

A teenage Schuylkill County man is facing charges after allegedly threatening to shoot up a child’s home and pistol whip his mother after trying to extort him for money.

Police in Shenandoah say they were called to a home in the 200 block of W. Centre St. on the night of Jan. 23 for a threat report.

At the scene, police say they spoke to a woman who said her son and his friend were at her house when they started getting threats from a guy they knew as Chucky.

Police say Chucky is actually Yurem Mejia, 18, of Shenandoah. His Juvenile Probation Officer provided that identification, police say.

The mother of the one child said her son broke Mejia’s window a few weeks ago when they were “play fighting” and she sent Mejia $100 on Cash App to pay for the window.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Jan. 23, Mejia allegedly called the woman’s son and said he wanted another $150. When her son refused to pay the extra money, Mejia allegedly threatened to come to her house and shoot it up, shoot up her son’s friend’s house, and pistol whip her.

When these threats were made, police say, Mejia was on speaker phone and they were reportedly heard by the mother, both juveniles, and Mejia’s Juvenile Probation Officer.

Mejia has been charged with two first-degree misdemeanor counts of making terroristic threats. He’s been ordered to appear at a preliminary hearing on these charges on Feb. 26.
