Today’s member of the Canary Rescue Crew has a uniquely Schuylkill County backstory.
Rogie came to Hillside SPCA as a stray back on Feb. 1. She was found near the Ateeco headquarters in Shenandoah. That is, of course, the company behind Mrs. T’s Pierogies.
Rogie is a 7-year-old terrier mix. She’s good around other dogs, around cats, and no one seems to think she’ll have any problem with children either.
During The Canary’s visit with Rogie, she was a little scared but came right up to us and was looking for some love.
At her age, Rogie is really just looking for a forever home where she can finally settle in and relax. And she definitely deserves it.
Now, there are some caveats to her story.
Rogie has some immediate medical needs. She’s got a lump on one of her front legs and a mammary mass. She also has a growth on her lip.
But that sweet face caught the attention of someone in a place that can do something about all those issues.
As we’re told, Angela in HR at Ateeco saw a Facebook post from Haley Weist, the dog manager at Hillside SPCA, which shared a brief glimpse of Rogie’s story, including where she was found.
Angela contacted Ateeco president Tom Twardzik and they acted.
Through a generous donation from the Tom and Pam Twardzik Family Foundation, the cost of Rogie’s medical care to get her in good shape to be adopted is covered.
