Water Main Break Reported in Shenandoah; Police Using Low-flying Helicopter to Aid Borough

A water main break is currently affecting service in Shenandoah.

The water main break is in the area of N. Gilbert and Cherry streets, borough officials say.

Residents are experiencing low water pressure and in some area, no water service at all.

Shenandoah says it’s in contact with Aqua, who it says is aware of the situation. The Borough says it’s working with the water company to get a scope of the extent of the damage and an estimated timeframe for service restoration.

State Police say they are using a low-flying helicopter to assist the Borough in identifying the source of the leak.

The helicopter is landing to pick up local personnel on a flight path between the reservoir and Shenandoah.

Police say there is no cause for alarm due to the low-flying helicopter.

Shenandoah Fire Dept. has established a tanker task force and is prepared to respond, if needed, the Borough says.
