A Schuylkill County woman is facing a felony charge of fraudulently receiving more than $4,000 in SNAP benefits.
The state Inspector General’s Office filed the charge against Kiara Calderon, 24, of McAdoo, earlier this month. She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley on May 11 and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 15.
Investigators say Calderon failed to report the income of a Legally Responsible Relative living at her residence to the Schuylkill County Assistance Office in Pottsville between June 23 and Dec. 31 last year.
As a result of failing to report that income, Calderon received $4,075 in SNAP benefits payments, the IG’s Office says.
