National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County Monday night into Tuesday.
Extremely cold wind chill factors as low as -15 are expected overnight into Tuesday morning, forecasters say. The Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Frostbite and hypothermia are possible from any prolonged exposure to air this cold, NWS says.
According to the latest 7-day forecast for Pottsville, areas of blowing snow will persist all day Monday into the overnight hours. Winds will be steady at 5-11 mph with gusts as high as 28 mph.
An overnight actual low temperature of 3 degrees is forecast.
And although the Cold Weather Advisory will expire on Tuesday morning, the cold air isn’t going anywhere.
Daytime highs will only reach the low 20s this upcoming weekend. And overnight low temperatures will be slightly below or slightly above 0.
