A Schuylkill County man is on the lam following an alleged assault prior to a New Year’s Eve party earlier this week.
Police in Minersville say they were contacted by the victim of the alleged assault on Thursday.
She reportedly told police that Juan Perez, 19, of Minersville, had grabbed her arm so hard that it caused bruising. Perez also allegedly grabbed her hair for about 45 seconds before finally letting go.
As she and Perez were outside a home about to go to a New Year’s Eve party, he reportedly said to the victim, “If you don’t come inside, I’m going to (bleep) you up.”
Since that moment, police and the victim have been unable to locate Perez.
Perez has been charged with a misdemeanor count of simple assault, a misdemeanor count of harassment, and a summary count of harassment. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Perez was also recently charged with felony burglary and criminal trespass charges after he allegedly broke into his then-place of employment in Minersville on Dec. 3 and was found in the freezer stealing steaks and a dessert.
He was confronted by the owner of the business who had managed to temporarily detain him. However, Perez gave him the slip and fled on foot from the business.
