Police in Pottsville say they’re investigating a three-vehicle crash on New Year’s Eve in which two people were injured.
Shortly after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, police were called to the intersection of Route 61 and E. Arch St. for a vehicle crash.
At the scene, police say they determined that a vehicle driven by Leroy Stevens, 21, of Pottsville, was headed southbound on Route 61 when it rear-ended a vehicle driven by Margaret Hassler, 64, of Locust Gap.
That impact forced Hassler’s vehicle into a vehicle driven by Jessica McLemore, 38, of Pottsville.
All three vehicles were in the left turning lane of the highway, police say.
Two people were injured in the crash and all three vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Pottsville Fire Dept. and EMS personnel assisted at the scene.
Police say their investigation into the crash is ongoing but vehicle failure is a potential cause of the incident.
