After more than 25 years of selling vintage treasures online, Ron and Sharon Coleman decided to take the leap into a brick-and-mortar adventure.
The result is Steel Pony Vintage & More, located on E. Independence St. in Orwigsburg.
Established in 2025, this shop houses over 30 vendors offering everything from antiques and vintage clothing to handmade soaps and custom artisan gifts.
In this Showcase Q&A, the owners discuss the transition from the digital world to a storefront, their love for classic cars, and their commitment to the Orwigsburg community.

What inspired you to start this business, and how did your personal journey lead you here?
We have been dealing in vintage and antique items online for more than 25 years. When the opportunity to buy and open our own shop presented itself, we just couldn’t resist. It was the perfect opportunity to expand our online business and become a part of the great Orwigsburg community.
What unique products or services do you offer that can’t be found elsewhere in our community?
We have over 30 vendors showcasing antiques, vintage and vintage-inspired clothing, and decor items, along with candy, soaps, lotions, and candles. We also have vendors that can create custom gift items and provide you with knitting and other needlecraft supplies. Focusing on vintage and collectible items allows us to help preserve local history and pass it on to the next generation of caretakers.
Can you share an interesting fact or story about your business that most people may not know?
The name and logo comes from our love of the classic Ford Mustang.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a small business, and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge has been reviving a business that was not as successful as it could be. Not having run a brick-and-mortar business before, there was a pretty big learning curve and after 9 months we are still learning. We have been able to tap into family, friends, and a great group of vendors to create something we think is pretty special.
How does your business contribute to the local community or participate in community events?
We are becoming a valued member of the Orwigsburg community by participating in Heritage Day and hosting the town’s hopefully-to-be annual car cruise, as well as participating in all of the Festival of Lights festivities. We also try to partner with and support other local businesses whenever we can.
What do you want customers to experience when they interact with your business?
We want customers to have a warm and welcoming experience when they come in. We want to have them wander through our vendor booths and relive fond memories of their childhood, grandparents, or just learn something of our local history. We love to hear our customer’s stories as well.
Why should someone consider visiting or patronizing your business during the holiday season?
We will be having photos with Santa on December 6th as well as pet pictures with Santa on December 7th done by our in-house photographer. We are also offering Black Friday discounts as well as on Small Business Saturday and our own “I should’ve bought it!” Sunday. You can also come and see our holiday decor, some of which was provided by the Blue Mountain Elementary art classes.

What are your future plans or dreams for your business?
Our future plans include hosting in-house events hosted by us or our talented artisans and becoming an even bigger and more involved partner in the community.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to start their own business in our community?
You only regret the chances you don’t take. Even if it doesn’t work out you’ve learned something for your next adventure.
