Planning a vacation can be stressful, but Marty Miller of Vacations with Marty aims to change that.
Established in 2019 and based in Auburn, Miller offers a highly personalized travel agency experience.
The business specializes not just in booking trips, but in creating customized travel profiles that account for budget, preferences, and unique needs—including expertise in autism-friendly and sensory-friendly travel planning.
In this Q&A, Millers speaks of her passion for helping families explore the world and her deep roots in the Schuylkill County community.
What inspired you to start this business, and how did your personal journey lead you here?
“I started my travel business to help others experience the world with minimal stress and maximum enjoyment. I love helping clients discover their perfect vacation destination and hearing about their unforgettable trips when they return. As a single mother, I understand the importance of finding affordable travel options, so I always strive to balance value and cost when planning each itinerary. With experience planning family vacations, cruises, all-inclusive resorts, and custom travel, I offer personalized recommendations and dedicated support before, during, and after every trip.”
What unique products or services do you offer that can’t be found elsewhere in our community?
“My travel business stands out through a range of specialized services designed to create meaningful, personalized travel experiences. I offer customized travel profiles that capture each client’s preferences, budget comfort level, and past trips, allowing me to tailor every recommendation. I also provide thoughtful trip enhancers such as custom maps, destination tips, and packing guides to make travel easier and more enjoyable.”
You specialize in accessible travel. Can you tell us more about that?
“I proudly offer travel planning that is autism-friendly, sensory processing disorder–friendly, and accommodating for clients with mobility challenges. I understand that every traveler has unique needs, and I take great care to select destinations, accommodations, and activities that provide comfort, accessibility, and a positive experience for all. My goal is to ensure that every individual—regardless of sensory, cognitive, or mobility differences—can enjoy a safe, enjoyable, and stress-free vacation tailored to their needs.”
How does your business contribute to the local community or participate in community events?
“A lifelong resident of Schuylkill County, I have deep roots and strong connections within the community. I previously served as Vice President of 4-H and led the Rabbit Group, and I have long been involved with the Schuylkill County Fair. I also maintain a long-standing affiliation with the Schuylkill County Therapeutic Riding Association. In addition, I am an active advocate for individuals with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorders.”
Can you share an interesting fact or story about your business that most people may not know?
“Although my travel business is my secondary job, I treat it as a true priority. I genuinely love planning trips and exploring the many experiences the world has to offer. One of my recent favorites was helping two elderly clients return to their native Scotland for a 15-day journey, where they attended the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and explored parts of their homeland they had never visited before—even though both were born in Edinburgh. Moments like these are what make travel planning so meaningful to me.”
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a small business, and how did you overcome it?
“In today’s economy, value has become more important than ever, and with so many businesses offering similar services, it can be challenging to stand out. I make my clients my top priority by providing honesty, exceptional value, and exemplary service in every interaction. My goal is to ensure each traveler feels supported, informed, and confident throughout the entire planning process.”
Why should someone consider visiting or patronizing your business during the holiday season?
“Many cruise lines are offering excellent promotions for Black Friday and the Christmas holiday season, both for immediate travel and future vacations. It’s a great time to lock in a fantastic rate and secure your next getaway.”
What advice would you give to someone wanting to start their own business in our community?
“For aspiring entrepreneurs, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of dedication. Running your own business can be challenging, but with integrity, respectfulness, and a strong work ethic, the journey becomes far more rewarding. When you believe in your product and commit to doing the work, success begins to feel natural.”
