Schuylkill County Man Wanted Following Drug Raid Found with Bag of Fentanyl Marked “Cut Dope”

Vevasis facing numerous charges

Police have filed multiple charges against a Schuylkill County man whose home was raided for drugs earlier this year and was later found at a home outside Shenandoah with more drugs – mostly fentanyl – on his person.

On the morning of July 8, police say they were on patrol along Raven Run Rd. in William Penn when they saw a vehicle they suspected belonged to the girlfriend of a man they knew had a warrant for his arrest.

After stopping to inquire if that wanted man was there and finding out that he wasn’t, police then saw a man wearing an orange and white helmet operating a pedalcycle. Believing that could have been the wanted man they suspected would be at their previous stop, they returned.

When questioning the man in the orange and white helmet, police asked if his name was Jacob Vevasis. They’d eventually learn that it was Vevasis but before that he replied that his name was Adam Jevelle.

Police say they detained the man who claimed to be Adam Jevelle and when he was cuffed, he eventually admitted, “Alright, I’m Jake Vevasis.”

Vevasis was also wanted by police following a June 13 drug raid on his home in Shenandoah, during which authorities say they seized large quantities of fentanyl, pharmaceuticals, methamphetamine, and more.

During a search of his person following his arrest on July 8, police say they found two small knives and a large amount of cash in his pants. He also had a backpack in his possession which police say contained a cache of drugs, cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Among the items seized from the backpack was a blue MasterLock bag that reportedly contained one clear plastic bag containing 0.31 ounces of a white powdery substance. The bag had “Cut Dope” written in black marker on it. That substance was eventually tested and returned a positive result for fentanyl, police say.

Inside a red zipper pouch, police say their search revealed a metal Sucrets container holding three clear plastic baggies filled with a clear, rock-like substance. Accompanying this was a smaller black zipper pouch containing two plastic tubes: one green tube with a crystal-like powder and one clear tube with a white powdery substance. Three pieces of burnt tin foil were also found alongside these items.

Also contained within the red zipper pouch were materials identified as packaging supplies. This included one clear plastic bag holding eight small yellow baggies, and a separate clear Ziploc-style bag containing forty-three small red baggies and twelve small yellow baggies.

Following the discovery of the red pouch, a black colored drawstring Husky bag was located. Inside this bag, there was a small tan zipper pouch containing a glass pipe with burnt residue.

Next to the tan pouch, there was a digital scale and a significant quantity of what appeared to be narcotics. This included a clear Ziplock bag marked “300 OZ” in black marker. Inside this Ziploc-style were two specific bags: one containing 0.9935 ounces of a clear, crystal-like substance, and a second bag containing 10.0225 ounces of a similar clear, crystal-like substance. Both of these internal bags were also marked with the number “300.”

Related to the date of his arrest in July, police have charged Vevasis with a felony count of possession with intent to deliver. He’s also been charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

As for the raid on his home in Shenandoah the month prior, Vevasis has been charged with five felony counts of possession with intent to deliver as well as 13 counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shortly after 6 a.m. on June 13, police executed a search warrant at Vevasis’ home on Furnace St.

During their raid, police say they seized the following items, among others:
