UPDATE >>> Court Docs: Schuylkill County Man Fired Into a Crowd of People on Bloomsburg Street
A Schuylkill County man has been charged with attempted homicide and other offenses related to a shooting in Bloomsburg last weekend.
According to Bloomsburg Police Dept., Samuel Charles Evans, 19, was taken into custody today without incident at his home in Mahanoy City. The US Marshal Task Force assisted in the arrest.
According to a WVIA report, police in Bloomsburg responded to a reported shooting at about 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 in the 300 block of East St. A 16-year-old boy had been shot in the abdomen.
Police believe Evans used a handgun when he shot the teen and then fled on foot toward E. Third St. Three shell casings were found at the scene.
Bloomsburg PD says numerous tips and video surveillance helped identify Evans as their primary suspect.
Evans was arraigned this afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Russell Lawton in Columbia County. In addition to the attempted homicide charge, Evans is also facing felony charges of aggravated assault and illegal gun possession along with misdemeanor counts of possessing a weapon, making terroristic threats, and reckless endangerment.
He is being held at Columbia County Prison on $500,000 bail.
