State Police say they’re investigating a gasoline theft at filling stations in Schuylkill and Berks counties.
There are at least two incidents, police say, each occurring at a Rutter’s station.
At the Rutter’s along Route 61 near Orwigsburg, police say a truck driver filled their vehicle with more than $400 in gas and drove off without paying. They did not pay at the pump and did not enter the store to pay.
The same vehicle and suspect pulled the same heist at a Rutter’s in Berks County, police say. This may have happened at other Rutter’s locations as well, they believe.
Police have not identified the driver in these incidents, though they believe it’s the same person in each.
The vehicle is identified as a red 2007 Freightliner with a JMI Transport LLC logo on the doors. Its registration is PA AH46464.
The truck is registered to Benjamin Polanco-Morillo, of York, but police say they’re unsure if Polanco-Morillo is the suspect in the fuel theft.
These incidents are occurring either in the late evening or early morning hours, police say.
Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to phone the State Police-Schuylkill Haven barracks at 570-754-4600 or the PSP Tips line at 1-800-472-8477.
