Schuylkill Conservation District’s Environmental Education and Outreach Coordinator, “Hemlock” Hannah, is leading a series of guided walks this fall and early winter.
Each walk highlights the beauty of our local landscapes while encouraging residents to connect with nature.
Children and dogs are welcome at most events — check the notes for each walk before you go!
There is no need to pre-register for any of these walks.
Relaxing Evening Walk
📍 Frog Hollow Nature Area
📅 Wednesday, Sept. 24
🕔 5–6 p.m.
🚶 ~2 miles, easy unpaved terrain
Unwind at the end of the day with a calming, quiet walk. Meets at the Frog Hollow parking lot.
Stroller Friendly Nature Stroll
📍 JFK Trail, Pottsville
📅 Saturday, Sept. 27
🕙 10–11 a.m.
🚶 1–2 miles, flat paved terrain
An accessible trail for all ages — bring the kids and the dogs! Meets at the JFK trail entrance next to the basketball courts.
Spooky Sunday Walk
📍 Sweet Arrow Lake Clubhouse
📅 Sunday, Oct. 26
🕒 3–4 p.m.
🚶 ~2 miles, easy varied terrain
Learn about local nature in your Halloween costume! Meets at the Sweet Arrow Lake playground picnic tables.
Tuscarora Trek
📍 Tuscarora State Park
📅 Saturday, Nov. 15
🕙 10 a.m.–noon
🚶 3 miles, moderately difficult terrain
A brisker hike to get you moving — may be challenging for some kids or pets. Meets at Tuscarora State Park, Pavilion 2.
Weekday Nature Walk
📍 Frog Hollow Nature Area
📅 Thursday, Dec. 11
🕚 11 a.m.–noon
🚶 ~2 miles, easy unpaved terrain
Take in the quiet beauty of nature as it settles into winter. Meets at the Frog Hollow parking lot.
