A Schuylkill County man is accused of assaulting a woman earlier this week in an incident in Cass Township.
A Trooper from State Police-Frackville says he was summoned to a home in the 700 block of Sunbury Rd. in Cass Township at about 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 25 for a domestic altercation.
At the scene, the Trooper says he spoke with the victim of this alleged incident. She reportedly told police that Jovan Roberts, 32, of Minersville, was in the area of the housing complex speaking with an “associate” but knew that she was staying in the area.
When Roberts located the victim, he reportedly approached her and punched her two times in the face. He then grabbed her by the hood on her sweatshirt and dragged her across the parking lot, causing her to fall and scrape her toe on the ground.
Police say the victim’s toe was bleeding but she refused EMS help at the scene.
Roberts then grabbed the victim’s cell phone and smashed it off the ground in the parking lot, cracking the screen.
A witness interviewed by police corroborated the victim’s side of the story, police say.
A search of the area for Roberts turned up empty. He’s facing charges of simple assault, criminal mischief, and harassment.
