A Schuylkill County woman is facing several charges after police say she defecated inside and outside of the District Court office in Frackville.
Police in Butler Township say they were called to the office of Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli last Wednesday.
At the scene, police say they learned from office staff there that Shirl Moody, 60, of McAdoo (or McApoo, in this case), had been there speaking about an unrelated issue.
When Moody left, staff noticed that the woman had dropped something in the lobby. It was fecal matter. The poo was also staining the wall inside near the restroom, police say.
Tarantelli said he then discovered more fecal matter outside the building, just around the corner of the entrance to his office. Staining was also noted on the wall outside the office.
Police say they reviewed video surveillance of Moody’s time at the court building that day. On video, Moody is allegedly seen hiking up the back of her dress outside the entrance to the office. Feces is then seen after she leaves that area.
Moody allegedly goes directly to the bathroom when she walks inside the office. When she comes out, she speaks to office staff about something other than what she’s accused of doing that day.
No one else is seen on video during the time Moody is in the office and when the fecal matter is discovered.
Police say it’s clear that no one made an effort to clean up the fecal matter. Office staff reportedly told police that no one requested medical assistance between the time there was no fecal matter in and on the office and when it was discovered.
A biohazard cleaning of the office was required, coming at a cost of $1,506.27.
Moody has been charged with misdemeanor counts of institutional vandalism and criminal mischief along with summary counts of disorderly conduct and scattering rubbish.
She’s been ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing before Judge Anthony Kilker in October.
