A Schuylkill County man was jailed earlier this week after he allegedly stole his ex’s purse, ran down the street, and started lighting her cash on fire.
According to a release, police in Pottsville were sent to the 700 block of W. Market St. just before midnight on Aug. 18 for a reported disturbance.
Through their investigation, they learned that Shawn Cicero Jr., 31, and a female victim, 43, were arguing about their relationship ending.
Cicero allegedly got upset and grabbed the woman’s purse and ran down the street. While running, he reached into her purse and started throwing her belongings into the street. He then grabbed cash from her purse, namely three $1 bills and began lighting them on fire.
Police say one of the singles was destroyed.
Cicero was taken into custody in the 700 block of Mahantongo St. During a search of his person, Cicero was found to be in possession of a substance that later tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
Cicero was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley early Tuesday morning and charged with felony robbery along with misdemeanor counts of theft and possession of a controlled substance.
Reiley set bail at 10% of $15,000 and Cicero was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, where he remains as of this posting.
