Hobbs Resigns as Shenandoah Solicitor, Replacement Hired

Crossen unanimously picked as replacement

Shane Hobbs has stepped down as Solicitor for the Borough of Shenandoah.

According to Council President Joe Boris, Hobbs tendered a resignation letter last Thursday, citing mostly his recent acceptance of a position with the Schuylkill County Public Defenders Office.

“I will continue to work on existing matters at the request of Council for the time being and will compile any and all borough legal matters for the incoming Solicitor, whoever that may be,” Hobbs wrote in his resignation letter. “It was a pleasure working with you all.”

Boris said he began the search for a new Solicitor on Friday last week and on Monday, interviewed James Crossen, of Williamson, Friedberg & Jones, LLC, Pottsville, to replace Hobbs.

Crossen accepted the position on Monday afternoon and was installed by unanimous vote at Shenandoah council’s regular monthly meeting on last night.

“I’m glad to help out with the solicitorship position,” Crossen said, touting his firm’s experience in doing municipal law and the manpower it has, with a total of 12 lawyers. “We’re all here to help out with any legal matter that you have. Our office does a lot of municipal work. I appreciate the opportunity to help you.”

Williamson, Friedberg & Jones, according to Crossen, does solicitor work for East Brunswick, West Brunswick, and North Manheim townships, as well as for Williams Valley School District, and the Shenandoah zoning board.

Crossen resigned from his position on the borough’s zoning board to avoid any conflict of interest.
