Schuylkill County Woman Allegedly Kneed, Bit Police Officer During Rock-Throwing Disturbance

Cassidy Ciccanti-Eiler held on $50K bail

A Schuylkill County woman spent much of this weekend in jail after she allegedly assaulted a police officer, biting him and kicking him in the groin.

According to information released by police in Pottsville, officers responded to a reported disturbance in the 200 block of N. 3rd St. at about 1:15 a.m. on Saturday. At the scene, a woman – identified as 20-year-old Cassidy Ann Ciccanti-Eiler, of Pottsville – was reportedly yelling and throwing rocks at a home.

Ciccanti-Eiler was allegedly demanding the resident of the home where she was throwing the rocks come outside, a witness told police.

Police later located the suspect on W. Race St., just around the corner from the disturbance. As they tried to engage Ciccanti-Eiler in a conversation, police say she tried walking away and said, “Get the (bleep) away from me.”

Ciccanti-Eiler was given verbal commands to stop where she was but she ignored them, police say. As officers attempted to detain her, she pulled her wrist away. Eventually, her right hand was secured in a handcuff, Ciccanti-Eiler then allegedly kneed an officer in the groin and then bit him on the right shoulder.

The suspect was eventually taken to the ground, where she reportedly continued to resist arrest but was eventually taken into custody.

Ciccanti-Eiler was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer later Saturday morning and charged with felony aggravated assault, plus a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest and a summary offense of disorderly conduct.

Bayer set bail at $50,000 cash and Ciccanti-Eiler remains locked up in Schuylkill County Prison.
