Schuylkill County Man Wanted After Violent Attack, Victim Taken to Trauma Center with Severe Brain Bleeding

Arrest warrant issued for Brent Herb, 38, of Pottsville

A Schuylkill County man is wanted by police after allegedly attacking a woman earlier this week, causing her to suffer severe brain bleeding. The victim had to be taken to a trauma center for treatment.

Police in Pottsville say they were dispatched to an apartment at 400 Laurel Blvd. shortly after noon on Aug. 12 for a report of an assault.

On the scene, police say they made contact with the victim of the alleged assault who said that Brent Herb, 38, of Pottsville, got angry with her earlier in the morning, accusing her of infidelity.

Herb began to repeatedly punch and kick the victim. He also struck her with an iPad numerous times. Any time she attempted to get away to get help, Herb continued his assault, the victim told police.

Police say they observed severe swelling and bruising to the victim’s face and a laceration inside her mouth.

Herb, she believed, was under the influence of a controlled substance during the attack. He suddenly stopped attacking her and fled the scene, the victim told police.

Later, police say they once again spoke with the victim while she was at Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville. She had swelling all over her body as a result of the attack, police say. The victim was later transferred to a trauma center due to severe brain bleeding caused by Herb’s alleged assault.

Attempts to locate Herb have been unsuccessful. A warrant for his arrest was signed by Magisterial District Judge James Reiley on Tuesday.

Herb is facing charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, simple assault, and harassment.
