Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Convention Gets Underway Sunday

Friendship Fire Company #1 of Englewood is serving as host

The Friendship Fire Company No. 1 of Englewood, Butler Township is hosting the Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Convention this coming week.

The fire company is celebrating 100 years of service to Englewood and the Fountain Springs sections of Butler Township.

Events get underway on Sunday with a Memorial Service. Several events, including a massive parade with more than 200 apparatus expected, are open to the public.

Main Public Events for the Week

Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025 – Memorial Service

5 p.m. at Saint Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, 45 S. 2nd St., Frackville, Pa.
Honoring Schuylkill County firefighters who have died in the past year, fire company members, and Schuylkill County firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025 – Family Night

6 to 8 p.m. at Frackville Memorial Park, 423 W. Pine St., Frackville, Pa.
Co-sponsored by the Frackville Recreation Board.

Free swim
Displays of emergency apparatus
Music by the Cressona Band from 7 to 8 p.m. in Memorial Park
If inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Borough Gym, 42 S. Center St.

Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025 – Convention Parade

1 p.m. – Parade featuring more than 200 fire apparatus, marching bands, and community groups through the streets of Butler Township and Frackville Borough. (Parade route attached)

State Route 61 West Oak Street will be detoured starting at noon.
State Route 924 and Lehigh Avenue will remain open.
Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes.

Residents should be aware of a no-parking ban along the parade route, detour route, and line-up area near the Little League/Softball Complex and Memorial Park. Residents are asked to plan accordingly with limited access through the parade area.
