A Schuylkill County man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he grabbed and twisted a child’s wrist while intoxicated last month.
According to an affidavit filed by police in Shenandoah, the incident occurred on July 10, at a home in the borough.
Police allege that 30-year-old Miguel Gerena, of Shenandoah, threatened to break the child’s wrists before grabbing one and twisting it. He also allegedly laid on top of the child and complained how the younger generation was weak.
The affidavit states that the child later told investigators Gerena had come home intoxicated, made disparaging remarks about the younger generation, and physically restrained the child by laying on them.
The child said they were unable to push Gerena off, police report.
Police say the child was taken to a relative’s home afterward. Gerena later admitted to grabbing the child’s wrist and being intoxicated at the time, according to the affidavit.
Gerena is charged with endangering the welfare of children, a felony; reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary offense.
