A Schuylkill County man is wanted on domestic violence charges stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred earlier this week.
On Wednesday, police in Minersville were called to an address on Hickory St. at about 9:30 p.m. Emergency dispatchers told police en route that they heard a woman screaming for help and telling a man to get off of her.
Prior to police arrival, they saw a man leaving the area and walking toward Lytle St.
At the scene, police say they spoke with the alleged victim of this incident. She reportedly told them that she’d been punched in the face twice and choked to the point that she was unconscious.
Inside her home, police say they noticed dried blood on her couch and that the victim had two raised abrasions on her face. She was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville for immediate medical treatment.
The following day, police showed the victim photos of a person with a known association with that Hickory St. address. The victim confirmed that the man who attacked her was Darnell Bryant, 38. Police say it’s the man they saw walking away from the area when they responded the previous day.
A warrant for Bryant’s arrest was signed Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli. Bryant is facing a felony strangulation charge along with a misdemeanor for simple assault and summary offense for harassment.
