Schuylkill County Man Accused of Stalking Police Officer Over Towed Vehicle

Stalking allegedly happened over the course of several weeks

A Schuylkill County man has been accused of stalking and harassing a police officer and his wife over an incident which resulted in his vehicle being towed.

According to court documents, on July 24, State Police-Frackville were contacted by a Hazleton City police officer about the ongoing conduct of Mohamad Abdelrahman, 39, of Kelayres. The police officer lives in Rush Township, Schuylkill County.

Prior to the alleged stalking, the Hazleton police officer said he had Abdelrahman’s vehicle towed as part of a prior incident. When Abdelrahman came to a tow yard to pick up his vehicle, he was allegedly overheard saying that he knew where the officer lived, knew about the officer’s wife, and expressed knowledge of their private information.

The first reported incident of alleged stalking occurred on July 9, the victim told police. It was at the victim’s home in Rush Township. As the officer left his home at about 7 a.m., he told police that he saw Abdelrahman’s vehicle parked at an intersection near his home. Abdelrahman, who was outside of his vehicle, was allegedly watching the victim as he passed by.

About 12 hours later, as the victim was in his vehicle with his wife, Abdelrahman was driving in front of him.

The following day, the officer’s wife said that Abdelrahman drove past their home in Rush Township.

On July 20, as the officer was driving home from work in Hazleton, he said he suddenly saw headlights turn on behind his vehicle. At a red light, Abdelrahman allegedly pulled up aside the victim.

The victim reportedly told police that he intentionally waited to pull away when the light turned green. Abdelrahman also allegedly waited, for at least 10 seconds, before pulling ahead.

When the victim eventually pulled ahead through the green light, he told police that he drove slowly to allow Abdelrahman to get some distance on his but Abdelrahman also slowed down and continued to drive slowly until he reached McAdoo.

On July 24, at a preliminary hearing in a Luzerne County court, Abdelrahman allegedly recorded video of the victim as he was leaving the court that day. He was reportedly overheard saying, “all this over some bull(bleep)” and “nothing better to do.”

Abdelrahman was also reportedly once again seen driving past the victim’s home by one of the victim’s neighbors.

Police have filed misdemeanor stalking and witness intimidation charges against Abdelrahman
