A Schuylkill County man was jailed late last week on domestic assault charges.
According to court documents, police in Pottsville were called to the Pottsville Motor Inn for a reported domestic dispute on Thursday, July 24.
As they arrived on the scene, police say they spoke with Rahmel Bibb, 43, who reportedly said he had nothing to say about the incident.
The victim was then interviewed. She reportedly told police that she was sitting in a chair in their room at the Pottsville Motor Inn when Bibb began to pull her off of it. When she got up, Bibb allegedly placed her in a headlock, putting pressure on her throat to the point she couldn’t breathe.
Bibb let go and then reportedly called the victim a “b**ch” and hit her below her left eye with the palm of his hand, which caused bruising.
Police say they also noticed red marks around the victim’s neck.
Bibb was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko and charged with felony strangulation, a misdemeanor count of simple assault, and a summary offense for harassment.
Plachko set bail at $50,000 and Bibb was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison. Court records show he’s not been released. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 4.
