A Schuylkill County woman was jailed on felony charges earlier this week after she allegedly attacked a woman at a bar.
According to court documents, police in Mahanoy City responded to a reported assault at a bar on W. Centre St. in the borough at about 7:40 p.m. on July 22.
At the scene, police say they spoke with the victim of the alleged attack. The victim said that Heidi Dower, 42, of Mahanoy City, walked into the bar and began recording her. In response, the victim said she began yelling at Dower that she couldn’t be there and had to leave.
That’s when Dower allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat and arm. The bartender then stepped in and separated the two women and asked Dower to leave. Police say the victim had redness around her neck and elbow.
During their interview with Dower, police say she claimed to have a video that negated the story they’d been told. Police say the video shows Dower walking up to the victim and the victim yelling at her to leave. However, at that point, the video stops.
Dower was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko. Police have charged her with strangulation and aggravated assault, both felonies, as well as simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
Plachko set bail at 10% of $25,000 and Dower was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, where, according to court records, she remains.
