A County official tells The Canary that 9-1-1 issues are intermittent right now and some calls are getting through to dispatchers.
The County’s Office of Emergency Management says residents can call 9-1-1 in the case of an emergency. But if the call is dropped, call back on one of two non-emergency numbers.
Those numbers are 570-628-3792 and 570-462-1991.
Do not call 9-1-1 to see if it’s working, OEM says in a social media post.
West End Fire & Rescue in Mahanoy City is urging residents to use box alarms in the event of an emergency. They say to only pull the handle on the alarm for an actual emergency.
