Pottsville Man Facing Aggravated Assault Charge for Alleged Incident with Hospital Nurse

Man alleged grabbed nurse by the shoulders

A Pottsville man is facing an aggravated assault charge for an alleged incident involving a hospital nurse earlier this month.

According to court documents, on May 2, police were called to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pottsville after a nurse there reportedly was assaulted by a patient’s son.

The nurse, according to police, had a duty to watch patients who were in the hospital as a result of serious or suspicious incidents.

While the nurse was watching the patient, the patient’s son – identified as Geoffrey Mosolino, 43 – reportedly said he noticed black-and-blue marks on his mother that weren’t previously there.

Mosolino then began to take photos of the nurse’s name tag. That’s when the nurse attempted to leave the room to notify hospital security.

Police say Mosolino attempted to get behind the nurse to also leave the room and then grabbed the nurse with both hands on her shoulders and pushed her out of the way.

Hospital security then escorted Mosolino from the facility.

The nurse was not injured as a result of the incident.

Police have filed a felony aggravated assault charge against Mosolino in addition to a misdemeanor for simple assault and summary offense for harassment.

He was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge James Reiley on May 16 and released on $15,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing on this case is scheduled for June 23.
